Who I Am

Kwame Terra is the Founder & CEO of bEHR Health Systems, Inc., a health-tech company on a mission to close the life-expectancy gap in Black communities through innovation, culture, and collective action. A record-breaking endurance athlete, public health researcher, and community builder, Kwame is redefining public health — not just as the art and science of prolonging life, but as the art and science of prolonging the human desire to live, because the desire to live is the root of longevity and the unlocking of human potential. He combines science, storytelling, and social justice to reimagine what health can look like when it’s rooted in equity and designed for everyone to thrive.

Raised in a family of runners and trained as both an athlete and a scholar, Kwame studied Premed Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana before earning a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Equity. His journey has taken him from neuroscience labs at UCLA and Brown University to building one of the nation’s most ambitious digital health platforms. His work integrates real-time health scores, community-driven wellness hubs, and culturally-grounded experiences to make the healthy choice the easy choice.

Kwame has engaged thousands nationwide through challenges, partnerships, and events—from breaking the world record of 2 million steps in 30 days to hosting run clubs, wellness festivals, and health equity summits. His vision is bold: to create a universal, community-owned Black Electronic Health Record (bEHR) that not only extends life, but also empowers people to live it fully.

At his core, Kwame believes we have a moral obligation to realize our full potential—and to help others realize theirs. His mission is to inspire transformation at both the personal and collective level, bridging entrepreneurship, health, and longevity with an unwavering commitment to justice.
